The Best Powder For Oily or Acne Prone Skin
A setting powder is basically a loose or compact sheer-to-medium coverage powder that “sets” your foundation or other base makeup so that it lasts longer throughout the day. It adheres to any damp and/or sticky part of the foundation and creates somewhat of a seal. It can also help remove excess shine. Beneficial for people with combination to oily skin types. Setting powder so that the oils in the skin do not break down makeup to the point where it’s sliding and/or disappearing . It can delay the process and save you from touching up so often.
Loose powder: usually more natural and sheer than pressed powder. Also used to set a liquid foundation and can also be used by itself for a foundation. Loose face powders come in a container with a sifter and usually a powder puff. I however find that big fluffy brushes work best in evenly applying it all over.
Pressed powder: is a fuller coverage option, used to set foundation or a substitute for liquid foundation. This will generally be the heaviest fullest coverage out of the three. Pressed face powders are available in compacts that include a sponge or a powder puff for application purposes
Translucent powder: provides no coverage, and is mainly only used to set a foundation. Not seen on the skin, but it can make your skin look to have a softer focus.
Blot: You can buy blotting tissues to keep handy. Press to your face and blot softly with the tissue. It will take off the excess oil but will not mess up your makeup.
If your face has a white look, or your makeup starts to look powdery and cakey, you’ve probably used too much. Also you have used to much if you now have a makeup line around your jaw, or it’s not the right color match for your skin.
