Concealers for Oily or Acne Prone Skin

The Best Concealers for Oily Skin

Concealers for Oily or Acne Prone Skin

Oil-based concealers are not recommended for acne prone skin, so look for a concealer that is oil free, just like the foundations you wear. Oily concealers can give the skin a very oily look (and give you the dreaded shiny face), make acne worse, and clog the pores. Keeping the pores clear while covering your problem areas is important in avoiding acne outbreaks, so also look for an acne concealer that has a label saying that it is non-comedogenic, and contains some acne fighting ingredients.

Concealers that contain acne-fighting ingredients, help to heal pimples too. But if you are currently using any topical acne treatments, use medicated concealers with care.

Acne concealers contain ingredients that are commonly found in acne treatment creams and face washes. These products can be a good choice if you suffer from regular outbreaks. Ingredients like salicylic and mandelic acid are mild forms of alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and work by gently exfoliating the outer layer of the skin and penetrating into the skin to help unclog the pores. If your skin gets overdry, starts to peel, shows signs of flaking or skin irritation please discontinue use.

Revlon Colorstay Blemish Concealer, Light/Medium, 0.21 Ounce

It contains 0.5% salicylic acid. It shouldn’t be used in place of an acne treatment, but for that zit that is just crying out for coverage, this concealer can do the trick while helping the blemish to heal. It stayed in place all day, too.

There aren’t many color choices. If your complexion is medium to dark brown, you probably won’t be able to find your perfect shade.

Maybelline New York Mineral Power Concealer-Micro minerals fully conceal imperfections and under eye circles. Does not have acne fighting ingredients but does offer all day natural coverage. Won’t clog pores because it contains 0% oil, 0% talc and 0% fragrance.
