What is Matte Foundation?
Matte foundation is a makeup foundation used on your face which creates a flat finish. Matte means it is dull and flat, without a shine. This is ideal for those especially hot months ( like Texas summers), and women of color as they tend to have naturally oily skin. Matte foundations are best suited for those with oily or combination skin as they can help control shine. Matte foundations are not recommended for dry skin as they may make your skin look too dry. They also tend to show off fine lines and wrinkles, and dry patches.
How to Use Matte Foundation?
Make sure you use matte foundation on hydrated or moisturized skin (all oil-free of course) as this will create a smooth even texture. Or use a great foundation primer or B.B Cream as another great alternative. It is best to use a foundation brush or a dampened sponge and make sure you pay extra attention to oiler spots such as chin, nose and forehead. Combine with a great oil control or setting powder and your foundation will not budge for hours.
Glossy VS. Matte is best illustrated by wall paint.
A classic case of wearing a dewy foundation when you have an oily or combination skin type (below). The dewy foundation is meant for the dry or normal skin types. Those contain moisturizing ingredients within the makeup and are also not oil free formulas. End result, you will by patting your face every hour to soak up the excess oils and at the end of the day it is very likely no makeup will be left on your face. Not a very pretty look for anyone, even movie stars!
I’m a bit of a YouTube fanatic, but I haven’t gotten up enough guts to make a video of my own with me personally talking. Lol. But if your interested in watching a Matte routine in action please watch the video below;
