Face Shaving Is Great For Exfoliation
Dermaplaning is a simple and safe procedure for exfoliating the out layer of skin and ridding it of the fine peach fuzz that grows on every person’s face. Simply put your face is shaved in a doctor’s office or anywhere an esthetician is available. Using a scalpel and a light hand, the provider simply scrapes across the surface of the skin using light strokes similar to what we use shaving our legs.
Woman with with lots of peach fuzz and acne would greatly benefit from using this procedure instead of chemical peels or microdermabrasion. This hair often causes a buildup of dirt and oils in the follicles, so removing the hair frees the trapped bacteria and make it harder for the pore to clog back up.
Removing the dead surface layer of skin also allows products to penetrate more readily into the deeper layers. Some dermatologists may recommend this treatment to prepare the skin for medical procedures such as laser treatments or deep chemical peels. It also may be used by estheticians to prepare the skin for superficial chemical peels or before a cleansing facial.
Notice the natural hair’s ends, they are pointed on the tips.
After being shaved, notice the blunt tips- that’s why you get the spiky legs after shaving.
Will my hair grow back thicker and darker?
Although merely an old wives’ tale, many patients are often concerned that the hair will grow back heavier and darker after dermaplaning. This is not the case. As long as the hair is strictly peach fuzz hair, it will grow back at the same rate and texture as before the treatment.
- 1.First you need a good cleanser such as beta or alpha hydroxy acids, will loosen dead skin and allow for a deeper exfoliation with the scalpel. My favorite :Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash
Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face WashIt's soap-free, alcohol-free, and pH balanced, which means dry complexions can use it without any fear of stripping natural oils. Yet oily skin can also benefit, since this cool wash doesn't pack any of the pore-clogging moisturizers that can contribute to acne.Brand: Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face WashManufacturer: Alpha Hydrox4.5 based on 102 reviews$7.00 New
- 2.Blot with facial tissues or fan the skin. If the skin has any moisture on it at all, there is an increased chance of nicking the skin, and the treatment will not be as effective.
- 3. Next is the shaving! It it recommended you don’t use the two or three bladed razors you use on your face. You need something more light a straight edged razor to get the best results. Then slowly start with one side of your face work your way over. You want the blade to be held at a 45 degree angle and go very slowly!
Something like this :LADYN – TOUCH ‘N BROW RAZOR W/ FOLDING EDGE
4. After you finish the shaving apply anything that you most want to be absorbed into your skin. Remember removing the dead surface layer of skin also allows products to penetrate more readily into the deeper layers
One of my favorite Youtubers talking about her experiences with shaving.
I just wanted to let everyone know my personal thoughts on shaving your face. I tried it, and I really liked it! You may be thinking are you nuts your hair will grow back in darker and thicker! Nope it’s not true, as I said above, if you start with peach fuzz that is what grows back in. Why wasn’t I afraid to try it? Well it was my little secret, but obviously not anymore now that I’m sharing, I have used these little razors for years on my upper lip. Yep, I have a little mustache on my top lip around the corners of my mouth. And guess what, my hair grows back in and doesn’t look any different.
Why did I like it so much? Well I have this one spot of my check that is a little cluster of those small tiny pimples that are impossible to pop (trust me I’ve tried) that I have had for weeks. I tried the extractor, I tried exfoliating beads, I’ve tried my facial brush, and I’ve even done two chemical peels. Not a single one fixed the problem!
Skip back to the shaving, I ran the razor over this area and all the dead skin that was keeping these puppies from popping out came off! I still couldn’t get them out that night, but I applied my usual face products, one of which has a small amount of glycolic acid. It burned like the devil putting that cream on! I’ve used it for weeks and it had never burned like that before. Fast forward to the morning and guess what?! The little cluster surfaced and I was able to get these blackheads/pimples out. Victory dance! Yep, I will be using this new method more often
What do you think ladies? To shave or not to shave??
